Description

Shelter Cove is one of the last places where you can own a home right on the Pacific Ocean. It is very quaint and the people are very friendly. It has a great public airstrip. The natural wildlife and fishing is amazing!

Our beautiful ocean front home decorated with wonderful art and nautical antiques. The full Pacific Ocean view is just amazing. It is common to see sea lions and whales in front. The sunsets and stars at night are also spectacular.

The 3 guest rooms consist of 1 queen and 1 double bed and 1 double (Lazy Boy) hide-a bed. There is also another inflatable double mattress available for kids. The restored pool table is over 120 years old. Directly in front of the home is tide pooling and shoreline excursions. A short walk to Black Sands Beach and the trailhead for the "Lost Coast" wilderness area. A 30 minute drive to the world famous "Avenue of the Giants" redwood forest.

Another Awesome Stay at Awesome Ocean Retreat

Our family including our daughter, son-in-law and 15 month old grandson had an amazing time in Shelter Cove. We even saw two beautiful foxes below our window in the rocks. The drive from Hwy 101 to the “Lost Coast” is not for the faint of heart. But the 40 min windy ride is worth the payoff in what seems to be the land that time forgot. Our host Chris is readily available for any questions or concerns. We will definitely return for our third year if given the opportunity!”

Can't beat the views!

My husband, adult son, and I spent a great week at this home - the perfect pandemic getaway. It was a joy to get up every morning and sit with a cup of coffee in the window seat with a view of the crashing waves, and a pleasure every evening to sit in the living room and watch the sunset. Easy walks in the vicinity lead to more wonderful vistas every direction. A longer walk or a short drive takes you to the beautiful black sand beach, and a bit longer drive takes you to Avenue of the Giants, worthy of a full day of exploring and hiking. The house was clean and comfortable, provided everything we needed to spend relaxed times at home, and was a wonderful jumping-off point for all the ways to enjoy the variety of natural beauty in the area.”

Amazing Stay in Shelter Cove

We had the best week in Shelter Cove. The pictures do not do it justice. The views are postcard perfect and the area is a throwback to another era. If you are looking for excitement and late night activity, this is not the place for you. It is very remote and quiet. If you are looking for peaceful retreat and nature at your doorstep, do not hesitate to come here. Chris is a wonderful host and a wealth of information on the area. We will definitely return if given the opportunity!”
