Description

This extraordinarily beautiful island has become known as a destination for lovers of Nature. Our goal has been to create a home situated and appointed in such a way as to tempt guests to forego the more arduous hikes in favor of days spent negotiating the more relaxing passages between verandah, pool and beach. All to the continuous sound of waves rolling onto the beach.

Villa PassiFlora was designed by architects Frank Greene of Rosemary Beach, Florida (USA) and Agar and Johnston of Dominica. The villa’s design highlights the extraordinary views, while taking maximum advantage of the cooling effect of the continuous tradewinds from the east. The villa’s open design coupled with extensive verandah space create an environment in which indoors and outdoors merge, providing extensive outdoor space shaded from the tropical sun. We have worked with Dominican artisans and craftspeople to create a unique and very special home.

The villa features 3 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. A “master suite” has a king bed and an adjoining study, which can be used as an additional bedroom. The other two bedrooms feature beautiful British colonial canopy queen beds. All beds have mosquito netting. Jalousie doors made on Dominica of native hardwoods open onto the verandah, bringing the beauty of outdoors—and the cooling breezes—in.

The villa and its verandahs present vistas which will never be forgotten, looking up the spectacular northeast coast of Dominica to Morne aux Diables and to the dramatic French islands of les Saintes, Guadeloupe and Marie-Galante. Take in the sunset over Dominica’s volcanic tip from our observation tower while enjoying a rum punch made with fresh fruit juices from the property and the fine rums from Dominica or the French islands. It truly doesn’t get much better than this!

One of the most delightful ways to enjoy the villa’s glorious surroundings is from our infinity-edged pool. We commonly use the pool 3 times daily. The view up the coast from the water is absolutely breathtaking! The small pool is ideal for an invigorating morning swim or a refreshing dip in the afternoon.

The Island:

Dominica (not the Dominican Republic) is part of the Windward chain and lies between the French islands of Guadeloupe to the north, and Martinique to the south. An international airport is planned but at present, the island is served by two small airports - Melville Hall in the northeast, and Canefield, close to Roseau. All flights are operated by turbo-prop aircraft.

Three airlines fly scheduled services to Dominica: American Eagle, LIAT and Air BVI. All fly into Melville Hall airport (DOM).

Traveling to Dominica from outside of the Caribbean involves flying to a nearby island and then connecting to one of the above services. When flying from Europe, it is often necessary to overnight on one of these gateway islands as it is not always possible to make a same day connection. Returning to Europe doesn't pose a problem as all transatlantic flights depart late in the day allowing ample connection time.

Below is a list of some of the airlines serving the Caribbean:

From the USA:
American Eagle and LIAT operate daily services from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Dominica. (American, Delta, and United serve San Juan)

From Canada:
Air Canada fly into Antigua, Barbados and St Lucia.

From the UK:
British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and BMI have scheduled services to neighboring islands including Antigua, Barbados and St Lucia. A number of UK charter airlines also serve the region.

From France:
Air France have numerous flights to Martinique and Guadeloupe (nearest neighbors) as well as a direct service from Charles de Gaulle to St Marten making it possible for a same day connection to Dominica.

From Spain:
Iberia have scheduled services to San Juan, Puerto Rico.

From Holland:
KLM fly direct to St Maartin.

There are also ferry services to Dominica from Martinique, Guadeloupe and St Lucia operated by L'Express des Iles.

  • Calibishie Bay: The bayside is primarily the focus of village life, but it makes a lovely spot to enjoy a drink or local meal, and there are areas suitable for wading or bathing.
  • Anse de Mai and Anse Soldat are small villages on bays which accommodate both village life and areas for bathing. Anse de Mai is a good spot to catch fishermen returning in the afternoon with fresh caught tuna, mahi mahi or the like. Day trips to Mari

Magical House

WOW! We can't say enough good things about this house and the island of Dominica! We have stayed in a few "jungle" houses on other vacations, and none have had the amenities Villa Passiflora offers. It's perfectly situated on the hillside for amazing views, a fabulous breeze and spectacular sunsets. Sherlan was available with anything we needed; Markeisha made us several meals & Nigel the tour guide was a god send. This island is truly untouched, and we can't wait to return! Thank you, Bruce & Ann, for sharing your slice of heaven:) ”

Nice Villa in Dominica

We had a wonderful time staying at Villa Passiflora! The view is spectacular and the staff were very friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the infinity pool and hammock. The best restaurant in the village of Calibishie, POZ, is only a few steps away. I would highly recommend this home to anyone wishing to visit and explore the beautiful nature island of Dominica.”

Best of Dominica

I have traveled extensively in the Caribbean and I discovered that Dominica is the best island with a real wild life. Nature is wonderful and Villa Passiflora made me avacanza memorable , I think is the most beautiful villa on the island. The staff and the owner are special. The villa is really made with love and all details are perfect. If you love nature this is heaven! Don't miss the Trafalgar falls and Emerald pool. ”
