August 2014royal stay
The house was beautiful and an architectural delight. Mark and Michelle were wonderful hosts and their guidance was critical. Location was convenient to airport and restaurants. Accommodations were spacious.”

Architectural Experience to Enjoy!
This was a wonderful experience. We arrived the 2nd week in February. The Sigrist House is not just a grande structure; it is an EXPERIENCE. Or I should say "SHE" is to be EXPERIENCED. The main house’s 15,000 sq. ft. of impeccable pedigree can be best experienced by walking the loggia, (which spans the entire length of the public/entertaining area/living room), and allowing the wonderful uninterrupted breeze to blow all the stress off. She is a large and powerful structure, yet feels very intimate and unobtrusive. Even the ways her architectural lines hug the lush, green property suggest that she was designed to be EXPERIENCED more than SEEN. Every morning, we would take a dip in the pool, and then coffee on the curved terrace to watch the sunrise, and then walk the 4 acres of grounds. The owner’s wife provided good pre-arrival information, and the owner called to check in after our arrival. The staff is great. How Rosie changes the linens without being seen still has us shaking our heads. After being there a few days, it became clear that Rosie has a 15,000 sq. main house plus 2 other on-site properties to clean; with the doors open every day, it’s a big job to keep the property dust free. We cooked many meals in the professional Chef’s kitchen, ate our breakfasts in the breakfast room overlooking the lush backyard and golf course, and consumed our dinners in the elegant formal dining room. We picnicked on the grounds under the trees, and spent lots of time reading and relaxing. This was the perfect “let’s-hurry-up-and-eat-so-we-can-get-back-to-doing-nothing” vacation. The grounds cannot be overlooked as they are like walking on air grass. [Caution: If you need high activity or an active-walk-outside-and-be-in-the-thick-of-things type location, this one isn’t for you.] But for those who appreciate Classic Elegance, this is one elegant lady not to be missed. Frank Gehry, the noted architect, said, “In the end, the character of a civilization is encased in its structures."”
