Description

HUNTSHAM COURT (R)

Huntsham Court is an award winning exclusive use private country house on a grand scale nestled in the heart of Devon. Known as a celebrated destination to host to private weddings & discrete events.

The building itself has a long history. Built as a private home in the Victorian Gothic style in the 1860s, it is now a recognised Grade II* protected historic building defined by its remarkable architecture. Since the mid 1970s, the house has played host to numerous personalities, musicians and writers as well as a Russian spy called Oleg and was a hotel for numerous years. Douglas Adams most famously worked on his book ‘So Long and Thanks for all the Fish’ whilst at Huntsham. This was the fourth book in his Trilogy, the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Liam Gallagher also filmed his “Shine a Light” video here in 2013.

Huntsham Court is an incredible 3000m2 private manor house with a huge number of stylish bedrooms and suites as well as a suite of 5 grand reception rooms. Its beautifully landscaped 5 acres of gardens offer a variety of different entertaining and dining spaces looking over the rolling countryside in all directions.

Each room is uniquely furnished from traditional four posters to contemporary family rooms. Almost every room has a sofa area and en suite bathroom. The property's unique art collection, sumptuous fabrics and seriously comfy furnishings are a mix of the posh and the playful. Not to mention luxury bathrooms, complimentary toiletries, fluffy towels and crisp bedding.

Lofty ceilings throughout add majesty, while tall windows flood rooms with natural light. The Great Hall is the place to congregate and chat on comfortable sofas – in fact, there are more than 55 sofas spread throughout the property, so a setting in which to rest is never far away despite the building’s size – while the drawing room, with its 150yr old muralled ceiling and finished in calming shades of yellow, makes a perfect spot for afternoon tea.
There’s a library, lined with shelves of antique books; a snug, gentlemen’s club-style bar decorated with taxidermy and finished in rich greens; garden with croquet lawn, children’s play area and vintage tennis courts.

If you are looking for a luxury home with wow factor, this grand Victorian gothic beauty is it.

The property is exchanged "dry-hire" with no staffing, drinks or food provided. A dedicated stay planner, in advance of your arrival, will help put together your stay schedule to ensure the house facilitates your suppliers and your stay.

It has a huge network of staffing options (at additional cost) from porters, housekeepers and staff as well as drink, activity suppliers and caterers that can service your event.
