September 2023Relaxing, quaint cottage
Enjoyed the peaceful oceanfront retreat! Tastefully furnished, the hosts were very gracious with a welcome treat. Individual portable heaters at each bedroom were great. Loved the attic bedroom as it allowed us to hear the ocean waves below if only the mattress was in better condition. One important improvement is the mattresses are lumpy and should be replaced for good nights rest.”

October 2023Amazing Situation on the Water
This place was darling and hit all our goals for a getaway to the beach. Waterfront with a great ocean facing patio. The home was thoughtfully decorated and had everything we needed. The owner was easy to reach with any questions and very detailed in her information about the home. A definitive repeat experience is in our future! ”

June 2023Quiet beachfront in Cayucos.
Four of our family members (all adults) were delighted and privileged to spend a week at Journeys End. We love the Cayucos area, having visited once previously. We were thrilled to find availability for our stay on somewhat short notice, a rarity we think. Lauren is a fantastic host and curator of the property. The housekeeper does a wonderful job as well. The house was spotlessly clean. It is well supplied and we had everything we needed for comfort and convenience. Lauren has thoughtfully supplied the kitchen with all the tools a family might need for casual cooking, and there is a really nice Weber grill as well. The galley kitchen is organized well and the appliances are very nice. Lauren has taken great care to provide LOTS of good info in the guidebook for the property, and has labeled a few things within where it's helpful. Thoughtful and caring. The garden areas right around the house are compact and delightful. There has obviously been a lot of love and effort in planning and maintaining a lush and peaceful environment. There are several fountains which reinforce the ambience. We loved the sitting area around the outdoor fire pit second only to the front deck. The living room and front deck were really our favorite part of the whole stay; we live in the high desert of New Mexico so it was SUCH a treat hearing the waves, watching the surf, smelling the ocean, and being able to just walk right down a short set of steps onto the sand. It was also really fun to watch the dogs on the beach; many of the human beach walkers were being led and supervised by dogs, and it was so entertaining to watch them. The house is in a quiet area of Cayucos, away from the higher traffic areas and with quiet neighbors. Presentation from the outside is low-key but enticing and welcoming. Cayucos is a sweet spot on the Central Coast, with a small town and friendly vibe, and with easy access to San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay as well. There are incredible parks to the south (Montana de Oro State Park, Elfin Forest in Los Osos) and north as well (Estero Bluffs State Park). San Simeon or Big Sur are not too far either. Or you can just ramble up to the hamlet of Harmony (9 mi.) and get some of the best ice cream you've ever had and a great story to boot.”
