Description

Hacienda Acamilpa

Hidden within the sugar cane fields, Hacienda Acamilpa offers a truly captivating experience to those who visit. With seven hectares of stunning gardens and a magnificent estate, the hacienda serves as a delightful oasis of tranquility and serenity.

Adorned with exquisite antiques and thoughtfully furnished, the suites offer breathtaking countryside views, creating an idyllic haven for relaxation and indulging in the pleasure of reading a good book.

Imbued with a traditional charm, the interior of the space boasts captivating details that adorn every corner. The main living areas offer ample room to unwind, sprawl out, and immerse oneself in the serene atmosphere, allowing for a truly blissful experience.

Situated in Acamilpa, Hacienda Acamilpa is conveniently positioned for guests to explore the surrounding area. For those with a penchant for shopping, the nearby Artisanal Market and Forum Cuernavaca are highly recommended destinations. Nature enthusiasts will delight in the opportunity to discover the stunning landscapes of the Sierra de Huautla Biosphere Reserve and the picturesque Tequesquitengo Lake. Additionally, Water Park El Rollo and Aquasplash Water Park offer enjoyable experiences that are well worth a visit.

History:
Founded in 1604 by the Colegio de Cristo, in conjunction with Hacienda Santa Rosa de Lima, Hacienda San Miguel 30, and the Temple of the Asuncion in Temimilcingo, its rich history spans centuries. In 1851, the hacienda achieved the classification of 3rd Class, making a significant contribution in terms of taxes and ranking 12th among the region's haciendas.

Specializing in the cultivation and exploitation of sugar cane, the hacienda produced an impressive yield of approximately 2,400 barrels per year, equivalent to over 480,000 liters. Moreover, its confectioner's sugar garnered recognition at the Universal Exposition in Paris, earning an honorable mention for its exceptional quality.

Nestled in Tlatizapan, Morelos, the San José Acamilpa Hacienda is located in the very birthplace of the Zapatista revolution. After enduring looting and destruction during the revolutionary period, the hacienda found rejuvenation in the 1960s when a prominent businessman from the press and publishing industry transformed it into a sanctuary, shielding it from the complexities and commotion of the city.

Today, Hacienda Acamilpa stands as an extraordinary hidden treasure, boasting breathtaking gardens and an indescribable experience that captivates all who encounter it. It is for these reasons that Hacienda Acamilpa is widely regarded as the Best Kept Secret, offering an unparalleled getaway for those seeking respite and enchantment.

Review of Hacienda Acamilpa: A Perfect Family Retreat

Our family of 16 recently stayed at Hacienda Acamilpa, and we had an absolutely fantastic time. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and hospitality by the owner, Andres, and his amazing staff—Liz, Darian, Alan, and the Chef. Each one of them went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and memorable. The Hacienda itself is a beautifully maintained property that transports you back in time with its historic buildings and lush gardens. It felt like we were stepping into a different era, surrounded by stunning architecture and serene landscapes. The food was nothing short of amazing. Each meal was a delightful experience, thanks to the skilled Chef who crafted delicious dishes that we all enjoyed. Overall, Hacienda Acamilpa is a perfect retreat for families looking to escape and relax in a tranquil, historic setting. We give it a well-deserved 5 stars and highly recommend it to anyone seeking a unique and unforgettable getaway.”

Historic property with beautiful grounds

Our family thoroughly enjoyed themselves at Hacienda Acamilpa. Andres is a caring host that went out of his way to serve us. He arranged several excursions including a day in Mexico city. He walked as much as we did. He’s a fantastic tour guide with lots of stories. This trip will long be remembered by our family.”

Excellent Family Time

We travelled to an ancient hacienda south of Cuernavaca and 90 minutes from Mexico City. Not many places can accommodate 25 people and we had ample accommodations. There were old structures everywhere for exploration. Other than the staff we had the place to ourselves. It was a great time that will be cherished by all. The historic structures had many stories to tell. Andres, the owner, was attentive to our needs. He has trained his staff well to serve the guests and make them welcome. He loved to share his family's legacy and kept us informed about the local history. Don't miss the side trip to Las Estacas, a beautiful nearby spring with crystal clear water gushing from the ground and forming a river where we all swam and lounged. Our group went twice. Even our youngest were sorry when the week was over and we had to leave Acamilpa and return home.”
