Description

Freshwater House

Located in Freshwater Village, West Wight, just 3 miles away from The George Hotel in Yarmouth, our property has garnered recognition as "one of the coolest places to move to in the UK," as listed by The Times in 2022.

Our luxury 7-bedroom house offers an exceptional seaside retreat experience. Designed by the renowned global designer Andrew Martin, the interiors exude character and comfort. Upon arrival, guests are greeted with generous off-road parking for at least 6 cars, making it ideal for large groups. Additionally, we offer two electric car charging points, reflecting our commitment to sustainability.

The outside space is meticulously designed for both relaxation and entertainment. Fully enclosed with two solid 6’ gates, parents can unwind while children and dogs play safely within the confines of the garden. Divided into three main areas, the garden features an upper sun deck, a lower dining terrace with BBQ facilities, and a small grassed lawn, perfect for soaking up the sun or hosting alfresco meals.

Inside, the house boasts spacious and well-appointed accommodations. The first floor is home to 7 comfortable bedrooms, including 2 king-size master bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and walk-in wardrobes, 4 double bedrooms, and one twin bedroom. Each bedroom is tastefully decorated and equipped with modern amenities for the utmost convenience.

The central entertaining space of the Drawing Room beckons guests to come together and unwind. With a vaulted ceiling, exposed brickwork, and oversized sofas surrounding a cosy remote-controlled gas fireplace, this room sets the stage for memorable gatherings. French doors lead out to the sundeck, providing seamless indoor-outdoor living.

Adjacent to the Drawing Room, the Dining Room offers seating for 16 people beneath three oversized aluminium ship lamps, creating a striking ambiance. The Snug, complete with laid-back seating and a 74” TV, provides an ideal retreat for entertaining children while still keeping them within earshot.

Our modern kitchen is a chef's delight, equipped with high-end appliances, including two built-in Gaggenau ovens, a large hob, ample fridge and freezer space, and a champagne and wine cooler fridge. A Quooker tap ensures instant boiling water and purified cold drinking water for added convenience.

For added convenience, the ground floor Utility Room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer, drying racks, and plenty of hanging space, ensuring guests have everything they need for a comfortable stay at Freshwater House.

Great House on a Fantastic Island

This is a wonderful place to stay while in Freshwater or nearby on the island. The description provided by the owner is accurate and speaks for itself. I would add that grocery stores, cafe’s, coffee houses and pubs are just steps away from the front door, and the propiretors for all of them could not have been nicer and more welcoming. A short drive from the house is the Red Lion pub (next to a 1000 year old chruch). Like other pubs, it has a menu of dining options. Unlike others, this small, out of the way place, is Michelin recognized! The house is associatied with the George Hotel in Yarmouth, about 10 minutes away and a truly nice hotel on the waterfront. Nicole, who seems to run the show at the Hotel, is very pleasant, fun and helpful. She welcomed us at the hotel and secured a table on the water for drinks and snacks when we arrived before showing us to the house. There, she showed us around the large house, she provided all the information needed to enjoy our stay, including recomendations on places to visit and things to do on the island, and checked-in with us throughout. She was a true resource for our stay and certainly a plus for the hotel. The George Hotel provides a very fine place to dine or have breakfast. Nicole always made sure we had a table. In addition, the hotel has access to a boat charter for either a full or half day. We chartered for a half day, and the experience could not have been better. The captain was very informative and fun to be around. For my fellow americans who might not be familiar with the Isle of Wight, I cannot emphasize enough what a delightful island it is. The island is as you would imagine an English coastal place to be; beautiful coastlines, rolling hills and pastures, small towns and villages that have much to offer. This was my first trip and I knew nothing about it before booking (the House just seemed like a nice family adventure). I thought we might run out of things to do. I was wrong. We put in a full week and didn’t cover all we would have liked. The summer weather is consistantly in the 60’s to mid 70’s; a welcome break from the summer heat in Texas. If a trip to England is in your future and Freshwater House is available, grab it; you won’t regret going. It is fantastic!”
