Description

Casa del Puente

Nestled in the mystical town of Malinalco, Casa del Puente provides an exclusive retreat where history, culture, and comfort come together. Conveniently located near Toluca Airport and just a 2-hour drive from Mexico City, this heritage residence offers a sanctuary for those seeking peace, authenticity, and a connection to the past. Originally built in the 18th and 19th centuries, it has been restored and designated as a heritage site by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), blending modern amenities with its historic character.

Upon entering, guests are welcomed by the timeless allure of colonial architecture and artisanal touches from local craftsmen. The terracotta facade opens to a serene courtyard with tropical plants and a small stone fountain and into a small koi pond, setting a tranquil atmosphere. The house’s warm colors and natural textures create a comfortable, inviting environment where antique furnishings meet modern conveniences.

Outside, a spacious garden shaded by a 300-year-old plum tree offers a rustic dining area for al fresco meals. Guests can enjoy the salt-tempered pool, an open-air shower, and a steam room tucked in the garden. A fire pit provides the perfect setting for evening gatherings under the stars.

Casa del Puente also offers a unique cultural experience. A private library with books on local history, art, and children’s literature adds to the home’s charm and provides a quiet haven for book lovers.

Things to Do in Malinalco: Beyond Casa del Puente, Malinalco offers a variety of experiences for curious travelers. Explore the town’s archaeological site, where ancient Aztec structures sit on the mountainside, believed to have been a warrior sanctuary. The Augustinian Convent, with its murals, offers a glimpse into the region’s colonial history. Nature enthusiasts can venture to Las Estacas Natural Park, ideal for swimming, hiking, and picnicking. The town also hosts vibrant artisan markets featuring handwoven textiles and pottery, perfect for those interested in Mexican artistic heritage.

A local staff ensures that each guest’s stay is seamless. A cook, skilled in traditional Malinalco cuisine, prepares meals using fresh ingredients, while a discreet butler attends to guests' needs, allowing for a relaxing stay immersed in the beauty of Malinalco.

Casa del Puente combines history, comfort, and natural beauty, offering a memorable getaway for relaxation and cultural immersion.
