Villa Barone Alfieri

Villa Barone Alfieri exudes Sicily's historic noble estates' timeless charm and understated elegance. Located in Recupero, midway between the treasures of the Ragusa and Siracusa provinces, the villa enjoys a privileged position atop a gentle hill that overlooks the Gulf of Santa Maria del Focallo and the Blue Flag beaches of Pozzallo. This enchanting estate lies within the geographic triangle where, after the earthquake of 1693, Sicily’s famous Baroque style was born and flourished.

Meticulously restored with natural materials such as wood, hand-crafted terracotta, wrought iron, and the distinctive pitch stone typical of the Iblean region, the villa offers a warm, welcoming ambience that honours local tradition. The estate celebrates Sicily’s natural beauty, where activities centre around the serene landscape. Guests can unwind under the shade of ancient carob trees and a monumental pistachio tree, breathe in the fragrance of jasmine, cool off in the pool with sweeping sea views, or practice yoga on the lawn, bathed in sunlight and caressed by gentle coastal breezes.

Historically, Villa Barone Alfieri was the residence of the Grimaldi family until 1907. The high-ranking cleric Mostaccio later transformed it into its current form, incorporating Liberty-style elements for his three nieces, the “Signorine Mostaccio.” The three themes are woven into the villa's design, seen in the garden's stone seats, the stairways, and the large windows that open to the gulf’s panorama.

This expansive 1,000 m² villa spans two levels, with nine tastefully appointed bedrooms (two triple and seven double) and eight bathrooms, accommodating up to 20 guests. Villa Barone Alfieri seamlessly combines historical character with luxurious modern comforts, offering a one-of-a-kind retreat surrounded by the rich heritage and natural beauty of Sicily.
