June 2021Great Escape!
What a hidden gem! This was such a neat place to visit. The house is small, but exactly what you need. The bottom level has a great entertaining/grilling space, with plenty of comfy outdoor furniture. The outdoor shower was a hit for the kiddos and adults. The house is situated at the end of a road, so you feel like you're all by yourself. The kids thought it was a treehouse in the jungle. We found tons of starfish and shells, busted coconuts to eat, and just generally enjoyed the island life. We will definitely be coming back to Callipe Cottage :)”

May 2019Enjoyable time at the Beach
The cottage was really cute and well-stocked. It would have been nice to have a real shower in the bedroom with twins as there was an antique tub with sprayer but no curtain to contain the water so we had to share the shower in the master bedroom. Some of the furniture is a little tired but I guess fine for a beach house. The customer service at the Island Club at N. Captiva could be improved as it was hard to reach anyone when calling for information-sometimes the phone would just ring and ring. The house is a good location with easy walking to the beach. A gas grill would be a nice addition and much easier than the charcoal grill. Overall we had a nice stay!”

February 2019Tranquil semi-tropical experience, quality home
The island experience is unique. The solitude is great, absence of sound of motor vehicles is addictive. The flip side of this coin is the need to prepare for a degree of isolation: logistics of travel and food is important due to the meager options on this island. Only a couple hundred people on the island at a time, not enough to support much service. Our experience with internet/cell was it is spotty, so prepare to enjoy the island and leave work at home, or this may not be your best choice. Both the owner and previous guests have fairly described the home. If you take the whole island experience, 5 stars, If one were to stay indoors the whole visit, I would point out that the owner estimates the foot print of the home to be 1200 sq ft, and despite the high ceilings that make the feel more roomy, I feel the living area is practically limited to three seats. Perfect for a couple, and well equiped for two adults and two kids. Almost the entire view from the home, is nature, and only sound is birds and surf in the distance. Beaches, particularly on south part of the island are truly beautiful and virtually empty. In order to rate five stars, it must pass my “would you come back” test, which it does. ”
