A Quaint Cotswold Setting

The Dunford Barn is situated in the heart of an iconic Cotswold village which offers easy access to all of the lovely Oxfordshire towns that make the area a great place to explore. All of the directions regarding arrival and departure and the intricacies of the property were clear and professionally done. The sleepy little town of Langford is charming with a quaint pub within walking distance offering delicious fare. The Barn itself has a lot of potential, but we felt that it was not up the high Third Home standards that we have come to admire. The indoor spaces were not as comfortable or well-furnished as they appear to be in the website pictures. The refrigerator was iced over when we arrived and then leaked all over the floor the next morning. The freezer was totally caked with ice and no ice was left for personal consumption. There was no toilet paper in the downstairs bathroom and no paper towels in the kitchen. The clothes dryer was inoperable and Claire, the host, was friendly but made no effort to have it repaired. She was just returning from a trip of her own spanning several weeks, and possibly the housekeeper in charge was not receiving proper oversight. The very small outdoor space behind the Barn where a table and hot tub were located was totally unappealing, and pigeon droppings encompassed the entire area. In sum, The Dunford Barn is located in a primo setting. We love authenticity and do not expect to be pampered, but the living spaces, both indoors and out, were substandard. We opted to depart a couple of days early and were happy to find moderately priced lodging at a couple of charming inns. The Cotswold area is very special and we would return in a heartbeat, but the Dunford Barn, due to the issues I have cited, would not be our choice for lodging. ”

A wonderful comfortable stay

Dunford Barn provided an excellent, spacious and very well-situated base for our party of 8 adults to explore the Cotswolds. Claire was a terrific friendly host and we quickly realised that all her recommendations were fantastic! We loved all our meals at local pubs and restaurants and enjoyed a particularly stunning meal at The Double Red Duke (Claire’s own personal favourite). We also discovered it was possible to rent a boat locally for a day cruise up the Thames, mooring at a riverside pub for lunch. Much fun and highly recommended! We found the house warm and relaxing and immediately felt at home in picturesque Langford. Overall an excellent stay for us all. ”

Fantastic host and property for a family of 7

We had a wonderful stay at Dunford Barn as a group of seven. The space was incredibly comfortable and spacious—perfect for relaxing together or finding a quiet corner when needed. The beds were all very comfortable, and we had plenty of hot water for showers after long days exploring. Check-in was smooth and hassle-free, and we really appreciated the thoughtful suggestions and local recommendations provided—they helped make our trip even more enjoyable. We'd absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!”
