July 2023Beautiful home and Views - Nightmare Check In after 8:00pm
The check-in process into this house was a nightmare. Be sure to book a hotel in advance if you plan on arriving after 8:00pm. The property management office closes at 8:00pm and there is no back up plan at the house for entry. The “what to do upon arrival” email with instructions for checking in arrived the day after we arrived. On the 29th , I reached out to the property manager to let her know that we would check in on the 31st if July instead of the 29th. She said nothing about not having access to the house if we arrived after 8:00pm . She indicated that we would receive an email with check in information. We arrived at the property at 10:00pm on the 31st only to realize that the email with the checkin information was not sent to us. We tried calling the number we were given for g to he property manager numerous times but no one answered. Finally, we called the owner (several times) and she eventually answered the phone… clearly annoyed that we called her. She said there was no key on site at the house or entry code at the house. She asked why we arrived so late? She then said she couldn’t help us so we should go check into a hotel. She showed No concern about the situation whatsoever. So, with no other option, we spent the night in an hotel and called the number to the property manager the following morning. She then sent me the check in email which contained an emergency 800 number. That 800 would have been helpful the night before. You may want to have that 800 number before you arrive… During the first day on the property, we went to the beach, upon our return, the security guard stopped our car and took our car pass. The security guard said the owner contacted them about our gate pass. He then returned it without much explanation on why it was taken. A little concern, and or an apology would have gone a long way to feeling welcomed on this property. ”
