The main level is awash in natural sunlight that streams in from the lake-facing windows and illuminates the open floor plan. Though guests will be tempted to head outdoors, the great room offers plenty of comfortable seating anchored by an oversized flatscreen TV and soundbar (perfect for games, Master's week, or for unapologetic fans of Hallmark Christmas movies) and a wood-burning fireplace.

During warm months, two overheard ceiling fans help to keep things comfortable. The great room opens to the screened porch, where guests can enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings without the hassle of bug spray. A wall-mounted flatscreen TV allows for viewing indoors or out, and for those who want to dine alfresco or just relax on the lounge chairs, the open-air deck is the perfect spot.
Steps away is the gourmet kitchen with new stainless steel Viking appliances, including a double electric convection oven that's perfect for a crowd. And speaking of crowds, there are multiple dining areas available: a front-facing formal enclave for eight, a more intimate four-seat breakfast nook overlooking the lake, and four plush barstools at the kitchen island. Indoor seating, alone, accommodates 16!

Just off the kitchen is the elegant master suite. It provides a private entrance to the upper deck and boasts a king bed, wood-burning fireplace, flatscreen TV, expansive walk-in closet, and ensuite bathroom with double vanity, soaking tub, and glass-enclosed walk-in shower with rain shower head. The opposite main level wing features two guest bedrooms (one queen, one king) with ensuite bathrooms. Also on the main level is a powder room and a mudroom with a new washer and dryer combo. It opens to a wraparound front porch, where a propane grill is available for use.

The stairs descend to the terrace level recreation room, where there is a large sectional for the newest Netflix series or a round of table tennis. Just off the main area is a full bath with double vanity and walk-in shower and a wet bar with a full-size refrigerator/freezer, drink cooler, and microwave. The recreation area is flanked on one end by a second master suite with king bed, walk-in closet, and an ensuite bathroom with double vanity and a wet room, which includes a soaking tub and glass-enclosed walk-in shower with rain shower head. On the other end is a fitness area and office/craft room, and three additional guest rooms, two of which have ensuite bathrooms (one king and two queen, and a bunk bed).

The terrace level is seamlessly integrated with the outdoors with a huge totally retractable sliding glass door. It showcases an oversized porch swing, a new hot-tub that will easily accommodate six adults, as well as outdoor seating and lounge chairs, and even a standing patio heater for cool nights. Follow the stone steps to our favorite "rooms" that aren't rooms at all: the fire pit with Adirondack chairs and the private sandy beach that slopes gently into the waters of Lake Oconee. Sitting by the beach you will find a wooden rack with six kayaks to explore the lake! There is also a private dock that beckons anglers of all skill levels, and watercraft rentals are only a few minutes away. For kids or kids-at-heart, a game room above the garage is too much to resist. It hosts a pool table, foosball table, arcade game, and television.

With detail and convenience throughout, Lake Escape at Oconee meets every checklist for laid-back luxury, and guests might find few reasons to go beyond the driveway during their stay. For those who want to sample local life, plenty of restaurants and retails shops are a 20-minute drive away.
