Amazing Mountain Home in Wintergreen, VA!

Our party of 8, 4 adults, 4 boys ages 5-9, had a fabulous getaway to Wintergreen, courtesy of the Smeallies' home deposit. This place had been on our wish list for a few years and we were thrilled to get a chance to try it out this summer. We all love to hike and enjoy the mountains in the summer (we aren't ski people) and this home and location fit the bill. Janice went above and beyond to make sure our stay was wonderful and tailored to our needs, recommending amazing restaurants and hiking trails. This house has everything you need...in the basement is a ping pong table, mini basketball hoops, darts, and every board game you could possibly need. The wifi is excellent and enabled us to work remotely a few days. The home has beautiful custom touches and the owners maintain it with pride and care...a fully stocked kitchen with every appliance and utensil you needed! We didn't see any bears, but we had a awesome sightings of deer and fawns right off the massive double decker porch. Going early June was perfect as the resort is quiet...it's pre summer season...so we were able to enjoy the summer tubing, mini golf, and ninja warrior course without any crowds. We lucked out and had gorgeous weather ..not one bit of rain or mist...making this a little slice of heaven. We can't thank the Smeallies' enough for opening up their home. We can't wait to go back!”

Amazing Mountain home in gorgeous setting

We just spent 10 wonderful days at this amazing house. The pictures don’t do justice to the house. It is a custom build mountain house in a gorgeous setting with beautiful views. The home is fully equipped. The kitchen has everything that one might need. There are several TVs, fast WiFi, Apple TV. Lots of games for the family. Great game room for our kids. We enjoyed daily hikes in beautiful trails. We ventured to the nearby towns and discovered great restaurants. The owners were outstanding from our first communication to our last one. Always available and giving us excellent recommendations for the area. We discovered a fantastic mountain home in a great resort and would love to go back.”

Ideal ski week in Virginia

Loved Shawn and Janice's lovely, inviting, warm and well stocked home in Wintergreen. Janice gave great recommendations. Shawn was communicative throughout the process. The home was centrally located within Wintergreen; the kitchen was large and well stocked; and, there were plenty of games -ping pong, darts, boardgames, etc. - to keep our family of 4 entertained for days. Loved being able to easily access the ski slopes just a 2 minute drive away. We spent every day skiing during the day, then returning to a warm fire in the fireplace, and hours of friendly games with the family. The easy setup of this home made it possible for us to create many days and nights of lovely family memories that we will cherish. Thanks you, Shawn and Janice! Hope to return another year. Designer Mountain Home in the Blue Ridge Mountains

Too many things we loved about this designer house from the perfect location on Tyro slope at Wintergreen to the sumptuous mountain-themed décor to the spacious and well-equipped kitchen, stone fireplaces, the endless supply of games, puzzles, ping pong table etc., we could not have been more pleased. Janice and Shawn provided suggestions for the area including hikes and brewpubs. When Wintergreen has snow, this place could not be better situated for easy ski-in, ski-out access. A Perfect August Escape

Thank you Janice and Shawn for your warm welcome and hospitality! Your home was a perfect August escape from our heat and humidity. We enjoyed very much the extensive back decking and just sitting outside soaking in the mountain vistas. Our days were spent exploring the area and taking advantage of all the activities offered by Wintergreen Resort. If you have time take a day trip to Staunton via the Blue Ridge Parkway...great town, with lots of history, culture and fun restaurants. Evenings we spent relaxing in the inviting living room furnished with comfortable sofas and chairs. We could easily envision a snowy winter night with a roaring fire! For the nights we prepared dinner the kitchen was well stocked and we loved eating al fresco on the back deck. We found everything well maintained and while we missed using the hot tub we had a great week. Thanks again for a great August escape. Richard and Susan Bottomley ”
