Description

Trancoso is a former fishing village on Brazil's Bahia coast with a 15-mile stretch of paradisiac beach.

The town occupies a speck of coast in Bahia, the country’s fourth most populous state and one of the earliest to be settled by the sixteenth-century Portuguese explorers who went on to define modern Brazil.

This charming and unique home is located in the "Quadrado", a five-acre rectangular "village green" founded by Jesuits in 1586 with the all-white São João Batista church at one end overlooking the beach and sea. This tiny 16th-century church made of coral blocks and whale bones, was built by indigenous people, is one of the oldest in Brazil.

On the other side there is the Mirante, not far from the the green which is the centre of Trancoso life, filled with capoeira, evening soccer games and social adventure.

Definitively a relaxing town, the shops don't open until 3pm because everyone is at the beach for the morning (every day of the week). After 3pm, you will be able to visit the numerous artisan stalls, shops and restaurants, all beautiful by day and night.

Casa Joao Alves is part of the brightly coloured little adobe houses, former fishermen's cottages, each painted the truer-than-true colors of a rain-forest jungle.

The home features two ensuite bedrooms, a spacious living room with dinner table, well equipped kitchen, garden and deck with fantastic sea views.

All rooms have air conditioner, TV, cable TV and wifi.

This home is next to Casa Dona Olava and can be connected through the garden if necessary.
